It is with sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our friend and AVHC Honorary Trustee and supporter, Dale Huffman.

HUFFMAN, Dale Myers, age 79 of Miamisburg, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Kettering Medical Center following many years of illness. Dale was born January 23, 1936 in Williamstown, KY to the late Renzy and Katheryn (Myers) Huffman.

Margaret Kruckemeyer – We in AVHC referred to Dale as our Ernie Pyle of Ohio. He will be missed but is surely smiling down from above knowing his article about the historic chapel closing in 1998, “Chapel needs a prayer” was answered and Dale came to the ribbon cutting that day in 2006. Dale returned to the Chapel for its Rededication Ceremony in 2012.

Kandy Nevin – I thought he would be here forever. I’ll never forget his account of Joe, (LaPointe, III), as he threw the wreath in the Great Miami River from the Stewart St Bridge in honor and remembrance of his dad and all the other local Vietnam solders who died in that faraway country when the Vietnam Veterans Park was dedicated. It was a very moving piece of writing. He also wrote an article about the LaPointe family receiving the Medal of Honor Flag in 2009. He always supported our military and veterans.

Robert Makley – Dale was a blessing and great friend of the AVHC. May he rest in peace.
